Pelvic Pain


Pelvic Pain is generally described by many medical providers as pain around the lower abdominal regions. However pelvic pain can cause many different signs and symptoms including (but not limited too):

  • Back, Upper and lower abdominal, hip pain
  • Perineal and tailbone pain
  • Burning, Sharp, shooting, stabbing type pain
  • Pain with sitting (which eases when sitting on a toilet)
  • Pain with prolonged standing
  • Vagina, Labial, Scrotal, Penile, Anal itching, burning numbness
  • Testicular Heaviness/ Tightness
  • Clothing Intolerance
  • Rectal/ Vaginal Pressure (feeling of an object in the rectum/vagina)
  • Urinary Frequency/Urgency
  • Urinary Hesitation
  • Burning with Urination
  • Urethral Spasming
  • Pain with penis insertion
  • Pain/Discomfort with gynecologic exams
  • Pain with tampon insertion
  • Deep pelvic pain with intercouse
  • Throbbing ache after intercourse
  • Lower abdominal discomfort with intercourse  
  • Pain during and after a bowel movement
  • Constipation
  • Decreased sexual function
  • Golf Ball in the Rectum feeling
  • Anal Pain/ Pressure

Diagnoses associated with Pelvic Pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction and pelvic floor involvement are:

  • Vulvadynia/Vulvavestibulitis
  • Interstitial Cystitis
  • Endometriosis
  • Coccydynia
  • Pudendal Neuralgia
  • Proctagia Fugax
  • Levator Ani Syndrome
